Alloy 400 is a nickel-copper alloy, commonly known as MONEL, resistant to seawater and steam at high temperatures and salt and caustic solutions. It is distinguished by strong general resistance to corrosion, good weldability, and moderate to high strength. In several uses, the alloy has been used. It has outstanding tolerance to brackish water or seawater rushing rapidly. When de-aerated, it is highly resistant to hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids.
